About this Blog

The original plan was that my Big Bro’ and I would be making the trip to Australia to see the 4th and 5th Tests in the 2006/7 Ashes series, after I was the lucky winner in the Barmy Army Competition in summer 2005; this blog was to be our “running commentary” on the trip. Unfortunately, Big Bro’ has had to pull out at the last minute due to ill health, so the blog may be rather more one dimensional than anticipated.

As I write this update (just before Day 5 of the third test), the match is poised on a knife edge - either England will lose the Ashes series in the most ignominious manner, or they’ll pull off the greatest 4th innings victory in the history of test cricket.

Whichever way it goes, I’m still going to make the trip: it would be churlish of me to back out now if we lose, and it will give even greater meaning to the trip if we win.

Come on England!
